Transition Time Seven Texts about Art by Boaz Neumann
“Art is useless, meaning, art demands to be left to its own devices. It seeks to be; not assessed as good or bad; not valued one way or another; not to be desired or neglected” — Boaz Neumann
ABOUT THE BOOK
Transition Time brings together six texts written by Neumann for catalogues of art exhibitions, and one additional newspaper article. Alongside their consistent engagement with certain time-periods and issues in the history of Israel and Germany, these texts share several recurring thematic explorations: immigration, time, drifting, and the search for home and place. The book includes several images from the exhibitions for which the texts were written, as well as photographs of passages in Israeli cities by artist Gaston Zvi Ickowicz; it is published to commemorate Boaz, a year after his passing.
ABOUT THE EVENT
